Captain Kirt Guinn

“I’m Captain Kirt Guinn.  I’ve been a fishing fanatic since my step-grandfather started taking me at the beginning of my memory – that gives me about 58 years of a great variety of fishing experience.  Ponds, lakes, creeks, rivers of Southern Indiana, then as I got older and could travel, I went all around the US and many places in Canada doing all types of fishing.  I am devoted!

Over 20 years ago I and my family started coming to Fripp Island for vacations.  The first time I was here, I went out with a guide who was the nicest man and through him and that experience, I knew being a fishing guide was in my future, when retired from regular work.  We now live here since 2021, so that plan has come to fruition.

In the meantime, I was a USAF weather officer for 12 years.  (*As an FYI, even though I’m a weather guy, I do not “make” the weather – it’ll be bad some times while fishing😊!)  After that, I was in the private sector in Information Technology briefly, then settled in to an IT role at Indiana University for 20 years.  My last position for over 10 years was Director of Telecommunications – in charge of the network, phones, email, and data centers.  Loved that job – prefer to fish.

I love taking people fishing.  I love taking kids fishing!  A successful day fishing for a kid might lead to a lifetime of joy – like what happened to me with my step-grandfather’s guidance.  Here at Fripp there are so many fish – so many types of fish, so many options for a good day of fishing.  Can’t wait to take you out!
